Magicy Stuff...and all that
Just thought I'd throw this out there as this forum seems rather quiet. But these sorts of series tend to make people investigate "magic" and those
sorts of topics.
So - have you dabbled? Looked into it? Are practising?

Nope. I'm too firmly entrenched in "the world doesn't work the way I want it to" to believe in most magic. I wish I could control the world by doing
a few "spells" -- but I don't think it works.

I have read into some stuff, not sure if I believe, but can't say I disbelieve. Don't think I've actually practiced it. I'm pretty curious and not
quick to judge. Such things may exist, however, it doesn't mean I should dabble in them. I do enjoy meditation, very relaxing. In fact, I've dozed
off more than a few times. My friend does Tarot readings for me once in awhile, which are eerily accurate. Of course, logic kicks in and tells me
it's open to interpretation.

Ok, I think I'm digressing. I've tried non-life-altering things like attempts at astral projection and dream walking.

Personally, I don't believe in it all.
But I do think it's very interesting.
Actually, I think it got me into palm reading, which I did for a while.

Hi Ryker,
How accurate is your tarot card reading? I tried but it doesn't really work for me

Mine is acurate most (not all) of the time, that it freaks me out, lol. So I rarely do it, afraid of what I might learn.

I tend to dabble, but it is more reading about "magic and mystical stuff" than actually practising anything. But I think that has more to do with I
love reading about myths and legends and that sort of carries over to religions and "magic" - whatever people describe that as.

I'm a practicing Pagan, but to me it's more about the faith than the craft. I've never done a spell in my life, if you don't count praying. I've
done rituals, which are vastly different than spells. What the SC girls did in their ritual to Hecate, at the crossroads with the rainbow colored
candles, that was a ritual. A devotion to a deity.
I do believe in the power of magic, though. Magic is just manipulated energy. But I also believe that messing with it isn't for the "dabbler."
Do no harm.

I've done both reading, practicing, and avoiding at alternate points in my life. A lot of the stuff you read in books like LJ's series all stem from
something. I like learning about the origins of those ideas and the reason why they apply and how they really work. I've studied just about everything
from basic energy healing through spell work and ritual. I've avoided the 'colored' topic ideas(as magic is simply energy put to use and energy
doesn't have a color only a directed use) as well as anything considered to be of the devil/satanistic because messing in things you don't believe in
is a bad idea for the most part. I've studied a lot of Wiccanism and general Paganism. My beliefs range from a lot of locations and I have overtime
developed an adoration for ritual and the beauty of nature.
And as far as learning tarot, I've tried three times now and it's taking my brain far too long to catch up with all the detailed messages and
relationships between the cards. I devised my own form instead using normal playing cards. Not only was it much easier on my brain, but I also was
able to get better readings out of it. That, however, was just me.
A kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it...

I'm a practicing priestess, and one of the founders of a coven. I specialize in healing and divination (i.e. tarot, pedulum, tea leaves, trances,
etc.).

Adding to my last post
Also, I'm one of the few who actually specialize in Runes. (I forgot to mention that before.) They're very dangerous, but very acurate. So, very cool
and fun.
Wow, I feel horrible for thinking something that's dangerous is fun.

Eh, it's not actually that unusual. The vast majority of Asatruar focus on galdr, and there are a lot of them around even after you take out the
Folkish jerks.
I do have a hard time thinking of runes as "cool" or "fun" though, considering how much Odin sacrificed for them.
The prince must be a lion, but he must also know how to play the fox.
"She pulled my hair and dragged me into the sea. I don't know why she did it. And while she did it, she sang like a violin."

Still, I've been looking for anybpdy to teach me Runes for years. Found nobody and had to teach myself. Most Wicca groups I've found don't like to
mention them or work with them. Could you maybe point me in a helpful direction? ;
And, considering Odin, I feel horrible now for the earlier "fun" comment.

Don't feel too bad, I recon anybody who knows anything will get what you mean.
I got into researching the topic of 'magic' when I was still in high school, I had drafted up handbooks of information on it, all for the sake of my
magic-based novels. Since then I've done a lot of magic-y things.
I learned the Elder Futhark, I know how to cast the runes, how to interpret them for past present and future, I can palm read but it's not my
favourite, I've done tarot cards a few times, know which crystals and stones to use for what purpose and how to charge them with positive energy. I've
delved into astrology too (it is just whack how much goes into the zodiac personality), and I practically know the Wiccan rede off by heart. I'm also
big time into world mythology, although my focus always shifts back to Loki (what a little...)
And for the record, I'm not Wiccan, I'm a deadset straight forward Christian.:)

I've been Wiccan since I was around 19 years old, so that's almost 9 years now. I practise alone, since I don't know anyone else, who are Wiccan.
Can't find any in the area either.
I mostly keep it to myself, but if people ask about it, I do answer.

I definitely believe spells can work, though I've never done any. I'm too scared to mess with forces I don't completely understand, because I'm
worried that any energy I send out may do more harm than good. Better safe than sorry, right? I mean no offense to any pagans or anyone else who
practices magic or spells, it's just not really for me.
I do love reading about those things, though. Anything supernatural or paranormal, anything to do with mythology or religious beliefs or folklore,
just fascinates me.
